Beverly Hills Cop 3 the worst?

Beverly Hills Cop 1: 7,1 (15478 votes)
Beverly Hills Cop 2: 5,8 (9861 votes)
Beverly Hills Cop 3: 4,7 (6089 votes)

"Are you kidding me? Get outta here!" BH3 is such a great movie and it's being rated the worst? I can understand the 5,8 for BH2, but BH3 is at least as good as BH1! Especially the final part in Wonderland is awesome!

It was, I was dissapointed when I saw it the day it came out. This movie distanced itself from the formula that made the first two great. It was more comedic than serious. John Landis is not an action director, he was probably chosen because he's worked with Murphy several times in the past. The first two directors are action/drama directors Martin Brest and Tony Scott, Eddie provided the comedy with his improvs, those were the ingredients that worked. Action with spontaneous/improvised humor. In this one, because John Landis was at the helm (being the comedy-oriented director that he is), focused more on Eddie's funny antics than everything else, kinda like you expected Eddie to be funny all the time. The humor in this one was soo corny is not even funny as if the humor was scripted rather than improvised whereas the humor in the first two was improvised and spontaneous, meaning that you'd laugh naturally at the situation. Watch the first two very carefully and then watch "Cop III" and you'll notice a BIG difference. The movie stunk at the box office that year, and many had the same complaints, that it didn't have the "magic" from the first two and the wrong choice for director. The first two were top grossers for the years they were released and this one didn't even make the list. "The Flintstones" made more money that year than a "BHC" film, that's sad. Eddie himself has said that he didn't like the movie. A fourth one would make us forget this one easily, I hope.

III sucked. BHC I is my favourite movie of all time. Axel Foley is coming back and I hope Eddie can be as damn funny as he once was.

He told Barry Blaustein that he wanted to do stuff that only he could do, as anyone can do Daddy Day Care or Dr Dolittle:

There was so much in I that made it entertaining, he got to ad-lib/improv a lot of his lines. Many of his recent movies are scripted word for word and he just abides by the script. Martin Brest let Eddie have the freedom to add stuff and keep it on screen if it worked. Brett Ratner did something similar for Chris Tucker in Rush Hour. Rush Hour is heavily based on teh cockyness and arrogant character of Axel Foley, but Rush Hour was a strict comedy.

BHC had the drama and seriousness in Eddie Murphy, as well as the realistic antics he would do. Eddie in recent cop movies, overexaggerates his role.. and it comes off not looking like the same Eddie we once knew and loved.

Again, III was brutal and Eddie admitted it. I hope IV captures the stuff he did in I. I hope he can be funny, ad-libbing and improving a lot of lines. Bring back Ashton, Reinhold and Brest as director. YOU NEED HAROLD FALTERMEYER.. THERE IS NO DISCUSSION AND EXCEPTIONS... it won't be BHC without Faltermeyer, just like Terminator III wasn't the same without James Cameron or Brad Fiedel

MURPHY: BRING BACK AXEL!!!!

The first two were great, part II had more action, was fast paced, and breathtaking cinematography (the Tony Scott touch) but they both followed the formula. My choice for director would've been Brett Ratner but he's obviously taken. Richard Donner is a director that would fit in pretty well as he has worked on similar projects like the "Lethal Weapon" series and is a director that is known to let everyone do their thing and act natural. Eddie has to have his humor spontaneous and improvised in order for this one to work. I'd love to see John Ashton and Ronny Cox appear but it's gonna be hard to have a script that would bring them back when both retired as of "BHC III" unless if Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) is killed, then it would be a credible motive to have them come out of retirement to help Axel solve the case. I know Judge Reinhold would be in this, as he was among the two recurring characters that appeared on the first three along with Gil Hill (Axel's Detroit boss which I feel he shouldn't have been killed, I dunno why Eddie approved this in that script). As for scoring, Harold Faltemeyer is questionable as he hasn't scored a major film since "Kuffs" in 1992. I'd like to have him score as he can stage a comeback, the man was a composer in demand back in the 80's. Jerry Bruckheimer won't be producing this as he did in the first two, the production will be handled by Lorenzo diBonaventura, which I'm really starting to question his expertise on such a franchise since he hasn't done anything spectacular other than produce "Transformers" (we don't know if it's gonna be a hit or a stinker).

You are joking right?!

The only good part of BHC 3 was the beginning w/ the chop shop & inspector Todd's final remarks
