BluRay Announced
FYI,
It is scheduled for release in late September.
Good news! It’s amazing that it has taken this long, isn’t it?
shareIt is, indeed.
Do you mind if I ask you a question? Do you like post-apocalyptic literature? There is an ulterior motive for my question.
I'll think about it for a bit in case I've forgotten something, but I don't believe I've ever read anything else in that category. I keep meaning to pick up The Postman, because I enjoyed the film very much.
shareMy book is on kindle.
shareIn regards to Post-A lit... Have you ever read Earth Abides? I got a copy of it recently, haven't had time for novel reading lately but I'll get around it to it eventually. It's supposed to one of the seminal stories within the genre.
shareFrom what Mick Garris said somewhat recently, the camera negative had never been assembled into a movie, as it was edited on video. I guess he didnt even know it was going to be released. I hope some deleted scenes or bloopers are going to be included. I loved the commentary, one of my favorites.
shareJust pre-ordered the blu-ray. Looking forward to seeing it. share

In the FWIW department, WallyWorld has an SK DVD set that includes Pet Sematary, The Langoliers, The Stand and a couple of others. It's around $20 or so.

Sounds like they’ve used the censored TV version instead if the uncut version used in the Artisan DVD. Might have to pass.

Actually nothing - turns out this is the uncut version after all!
shareThe only thing is that I should have waited a bit until the price came down, but I wanted to be among the first to get the blu-ray.
The only version I have to get now are the the comics, and (after it comes out) the CBS re-make. I hope I like it (the re-make) as well as I like the 1994 ABC mini-series.
So, was the remake as gash as everyone says?

Nice, hows the quality now that its been transferred to HD??
shareTo be honest, I was a bit underwhelmed by the difference. However, my current flat-screen is a very small one and one thing I'll be getting come Christmas is a larger unit.
shareIt's gotta be shit. I don't see them having spent the money to do a bang up job with this and the effects.

It was made for tv. No part of this project ever had the HD treatment except for it probably being shot on film. I don't see them spending millions of dollars to go through this mini-series upgrading all the frames for a proper bluray transfer, and re-doing the few effects shots it features, which were certainly rendered on low res computers.
shareI see what you're saying now. Valid point.
