Jordan's line?

Towards the end of the episode "Life of Brian", Jordan and Angela are against the fence and he says, "Why are you like this?" I was just wondering, if anyone actually understands what he means?

I don't think we're meant to know! Remember, we see the episode's through Angela's eyes...so when he walks off and she's confused and asks "How...how am I?" but get's no answer...we're left feeling the same way!
If it comes down to anything...it's the fact that "The way she is" leaves him confused, never knowing how she's feeling, and that for the first time in his life...a girl leaves him feeling ACTUAL feelings! So for him, the way she is, is both confusing and confronting to him and he has no idea why, hence "Why are you like this"...makes her different from every other girl he's dated and had sex with in the past!

I agree with you completely. I just watched the episode again. It is almost like he cant understand why he is so intrigued by her. He cant help it but wants to be around her and know her. Their relationship was fleeting but it was nice to see them continue to interact up until the whole sleeping with her best friend incident.

reply

and even with sleeping with her bestfriend Rayanne who was the complete total opposite of her. it was like he did that to sabotage, punish himself, or prove to himself, yeah you are an ass and Angela is to good for you.

I know this is off-topic but it's a pet peeve of mine: 'episodes' is plural and therefore doesn't require an apostrophe...neither does 'gets'.

reply

Thanks for that actually...I didn't know and now I do! Good to learn something new everyday when it comes to spelling/grammar :-D

reply

And thank you for taking the correction with maturity! Kudos to you! Too many people get their backs up and mouth off at me for trying to help them. It's like they're allergic to learning!

reply

LOL they do, but they shouldn't...no one wants to read peoples conversations of totes and cray cray and you's! I hate when people say "You's"! What's happening to the English language?

reply

People like 'hotbody805' are helping to destroy it.

reply

Thank you Spelling Nazi! Where would we be without you?

reply

You needed a comma after thank you! Thank you, spelling Nazi! LMMFAO...I'm only fooling with you, hotbody805 LOL.

He says "Why are you like this? ...Like how you are."

Well Angela wasn't the type of girl he would normally go for and was even a little embarrassed by her which we saw in the episode "self esteem". I always thought that even though he liked her, he didn't know why and he didn't really want to. So when he asks her that, it's like he's asking her why is she so "weird".

And let's not forget that Angela asks Jordan the same "Why are you like this?" question during the "Self Esteem" episode.

Until the dance I think Jordan sees Angela as a potential hook up but that's it; just like any other girl. That night when he sees her hugging some other guy, all that changed. Sure, it's Ricky but I think when Jordan sees that, he feels a twinge of jealousy that surprises, confuses and frustrates him.

I believe Jordan says those words, 'Why are you like this?' to Angela because he feels she's sending him mixed signals. When she repeats those same words to him later in another episode, it's for pretty much the same reason. Mixed signals seem to be a recurring theme throughout their 'relationship'.

reply

I don't think she ever sent him mixed signals. She liked him, and that was that. He was the signal mixer because he couldn't understand why she had such a hold on him. What was it about her that made him want her so much when she wasn't his normal gorgeous, slutty type? Therein lies the the question "Why are you like this?" and the answer "How you are". No girl had ever made him feel the way Angela did, and it was foreign to him.
