the storytelling in this is too dated now.

Really.I was just rewatching some of the first season a few weeks ago and it didn't feel that dated to me.What felt most out of place to me was Rays wardrobe which felt very 90's.

Rewatching is very different than watching for the first time because one brings along all the thoughts of the first watch.

I think it's a clever show, especially the first two seasons before it got self-indulgent and self-referential. One thing that's consistent about the series is the green motif which illustrates that Benton is a greenhorn. This type of consistency is impressive when you have different directors and cinematographers working on the same show.
