Maybe I'm overthinking it, but are we just suppose to believe that they just walk out of the room and out of the hotel after a massive shoot out. I mean come on. I guess the mob guy with the woman hostage was sort of a distraction but the ending is just ridiculous. Sure, there are a lot of stupid cops, but this is just too much; makes the cops from Heat look like geniuses.

shareI love it! I think Clarence was originally supposed to die and I agree the happy ending does seem very much the work of the studio but I don't think it matters, the film isn't exactly believable the rest of the way through so where is the harm in a feel-good ending?

This movie is a crime fantasy, not a realistic depiction of the thrilling life of comic book nerds and rookie prostitutes. You're not supposed to "believe" it any more than you believe anything else that happens in comic books.
Tarantino loves pulp fiction and romance comics, and this movie is essentially a live-action "true crime" romance comic.
Not really. The original script actually had Clarence dying in the end and Alabama running off to be a criminal for the rest of her life. Becoming exactly the kind of damaged goods she said she wasn't at the start and thus, delivering yet another cautionary tale of how crime doesn't pay.
Contrary to what a lot of people think, Tarantino's films are actually very much rooted in morality. His characters always live or die based on the moral choices they make. Even Kill Bill is a redemption story first and a revenge story second. It's really Tony Scott who turned it into a more romantic, fantasy-esque film.
While I enjoy the finished product, I can't help but feel as though it's a much more shallow film than what was originally intended.
Do you have copy of the original script that you can share and verify is original. I ask because the TR ending sounds like Tarentino ending, not the one you describe.

If you want verification, I suggest you give Quentin's DVD commentary a listen. There, he says that although it wasn't what he originally intended, it fits the film Tony Scott ultimately made.
If you think it seems in line with what Tarantino usually does, then I suggest you watch his films with a closer eye. His movies never have criminals just getting away scot free for their acts. They either redeem themselves over the course of the film or suffer and/or die as a result of their lack of ethics.

shareI agree with the TC but my main beef is that the ending should've been them both going to jail for drug dealing to make the point that what Clarence and Alabama did was wrong. But that's just me. I didn't like the happy ending. I thought it was bullcrap. I'll admit though I didn't like the protagonists that much and thought they were both idiots. Still an entertaining movie.

I think at the end everyone shlda been dead, cops everyone. Then Elvis walks over picks up the money and the coke and walks away . Roll credits
