Yes, an awful thread, after watching such a fine movie. While speculation is very much okay, we can't draw real conclusions to any direction like it's been done under this thread.
When this movie screened first back in '93, I was a young art student, and pretty much every young woman I knew at the time loved Trois Couleurs, especially Bleu and recommended I should go watch it. Even though I intended to go, I probably was turned off by too much hype and thought it would be this ultimate girls movie, you know, like Chocolat. Took me 20 years to actually see it, but happy I did it.
Rating given here is weighted average rating, which means result is affected also by other factors than just given votes.
With just 26 ratings the sample is very small, so only thing we can really observe from these demographics is:
- most females under 18 don't rate movies in IMDb
- most females under 18 who rate movies in IMDb haven't seen this film
This movie is already 20 years old, so we can safely make an assumption that there probably is a number of female voters, who saw this movie when they were under 18, but gave their rating at later age.
If we look at the numbers: Of 26 voters only 3 gave 1, while 6 gave it a 10. If ratings 5 and 6 are considered average, then 19 of 26 voters gave better than average rating. Only 4 voters rated it worse than average.
Median is 8, which is very much the same with the greatest sex separated group with over 10k of user ratings, males aged 30-44. My group, but I'll give it a 9.
I do wish girls would rate more, so their true opinion would not be blurred by trolling and diminished by dumb conclusions.
