Other movies with a similar combination of sound and images

What I mean by this is ''perfection''.

Can you suggest other movies apart from this one (or the other two in the trilogy) that masterfully combine visuals and music in a way that doesn't only titillate the senses, but also stimulate thought? Old, new, foreign, american, doesn't matter.

Also, maybe it is not so bad, but sorry for my english.

There are already a couple of Tarvovksy films in this list, but really, if you appreciate Kieslowski and in particular the depth of character and visual+sound approach to artistic film, you would do well to investigate all of Tarkovksy's catalogue. The man was a supernatural genius when it comes to film. Sadly, also like Kieslowski, he died far too young. But I agree, Zerkalo is a definite must see. When someone can put a sledgehammer to your heart with a simple image of wind blowing through billowing grass, you know you are being educated by a master.

Baraka. Watching the blu-ray is mesmerizing in the best possible way, takes you to another state of being.

Antonioni's Red Desert. You'd probably like it if you like Kieslowski and Tarkovsky.

I think Andrey Tarkovskiy has what you want.
My favourite by him is Stalker.

obvious, I guess, but the use of Mozart's music (especially the Requiem) in Amadeus gives me chills every time. When I think of music in the movies, that's the first film that comes to mind.

I would also say that Kubrick is the greatest director for picking music for his films.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned any Asian film. Kieslowski's work is so acclaimed because, among other things, it takes a non-western approach to achieving what the OP describes. Ki-Duk Kim is a misanthrope with little concern for the rights of animals in his films. With that caveat, his "Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter...and Spring Again" is very much like "Blue."

Caveat: animal suffering made me stop with Kim's canon after three films.

Also--"Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives." Unforgettable, because it basically takes the viewer into the peace, the craziness, and the final acceptance, of death in the same way "Blue" takes one into the peace, the craziness, and the final acceptance of grief.

Another film you might want to view is Enter the Void. I will warn you that it is a very disjointed film (the film jumps around a lot in its own timeline)

I'm not saying I don't trust you, and I'm not saying I do, but I don't:) On twitter @Justin9IN

Repulsion (1965), sound effects are used particularly well. This movie expertly balances silence and atmospheric noise with jazz score.
