I didn't like this movie...
is it because I'm a guy?
But I liked When Harry Met Sally and 500 Days of Summer.

Yeah, that's the reason!!
''They don't know that we know they know we know.'' Phoebe
I didnt like it because its creepy.
sharehehe, you fellas read my mind, i was just thinking "i'm the only guy on this movie's board, right?", this was the first time i saw this after seeing it as a kid not realising what i was watching, what a sentimental mess, then you got one cheesy mainstream old love song playing one after another, the only positive thing i give this is it features ray charles, i've seen a soundtrack available of this movie, frankly i don't see how they could fit it all on a single cd, and forget the strings playing throughout the movie, romantic movies have always been just nonsense and the worst sort of genre, i'm a sucker for really old flicks from around half a century back and further, but i've noticed even those romantic flicks back then was just crap, i think about all other great movies hanks starred in around this time like comedies and drama, also i thought the production year of this was a misprint, he looks like that youthful guy in the 1980s flick, how is it this was shot at the same time as forrest gump where he looks completely different and just a few years prior to the green mile.
🏙 🌃
i was gatherin dust in your old cotton sweater,
like a tineola bisselliella you found but didnt brush me off,
from home entered secret worlds,
like a vinyl record melted by your love,
through window rays blurred into deep secrets of space,
before hanging off your fur coat back home again.
I just watched it. I heard a lot of good things about this film.
Truth -- I thought the movie was boring. I liked Tom Hanks; he gave a good performance. His interactions with the boy were fun. I also thought Rosie O'Donnell did well in her role, and her interactions with Meg Ryan were fun too.
But the plot just didn't hold me long enough. The comedy felt flat too.
Have to admit, this is the only movie I've ever fallen asleep in. Ironic considering the title.
shareI have to say I was disappointed. I expected better from the writer of When Harry Met Sally. Clearly that film was heavily influenced by director Rob Reiner who added his own magic and let Billy crystal off the leash to improvise and add gags.
Nora Ephron wrote and directed Sleepless and it leant more into the drama than the comedy, and not very successfully. The idea of having the couple only meet at the very end was a neat conceit, but this was diluted by the weirdness of her going to visit him in Seattle and just… bottling it and coming home, even after they’ve both said ‘hi’. WTF?
Overall the drama felt a bit thin, the ‘cute’ sassy kid and bereavement all felt manipulative, and it was weird how we never actually saw Meg dump Pullman - it was almost afraid to actually dive into any real drama.
Additionally, it failed to make me sympathise with the kid, who was passive aggressively hostile to Victoria, who was perfectly friendly and kind to him. Plus Meg was a shrew for betraying her fiancé with her covert mini-affair, stalking another man while betrothed to another. Would a man who was sneaking around pursuing another woman, betraying his wife to be, be considered sympathetic by most women? Nope, he’d be an out and out villain.
Surprised it’s considered a classic and spawned a ‘reunion’ film You’ve Got Mail.
I'm a girl and I hated it too. I have no idea why its fame has lasted so long but I'm guessing it's the name brand stars?
shareI'm a woman and the genres romantic comedies/drama is of course my main favorite!
I don't like one Tom Hanks movie. They all suck different somehow.
Sleepless in Seattle and You Got Mail has a interesting synopsis for watching the movie but the outcome is sheer horrendous to suffer throu. Totally anti climax and while Meg Ryan's face comes across likeable... in both overhyped movies her actions and attraction to Tom Hanks are absolutely not relatable/understandable.
Pretty Woman, Ghost, Dancing with Wolves are epitome movies.... and then you have such utter crap! It's not even soothing cheap evening TV relief. You are just angry for days afterwards which wrong society message Hollyweird did even in best 80s/90s days. 21st Trash Millenium is of course unwatchable!
