Why did Jonah like Annie's letter?

I think I missed something. Thousands of women wrote to Sam, what made Annie stand out to Jonah?

It was addressed to both of them, it had something about some ballplayer or club that Sam liked (can't remember who/what), it didn't sound as pathetically desperate or sappy as the others, and most of all- it was just meant to be so some sixth sense kicked in.

Yeah, thousands of women wrote letters, yet out of all of them, this letter somehow got Jonah's attention.

I think the answer is simple -- The movie aims to convey the message that Sam and Annie were just meant for each other. That's why Jonah just happened to like Annie's letter. Destiny demanded it
