Favourite Scene and Why?

What is your favourite scene in the movie Rudy? Why? Tell me about how it made you feel, react, and just overall comments about the scene: its aesthetics, lighting, etc. Thanks!

Easily my favorite scene is when he opens the last letter of acceptance and reads that he finally got in and begins to cry as he reads it.

After all the hard work and determination it paid off and you really felt it there and I love the way Jerry Goldsmith's score came up.

A close second favorite is when the team all go in and lay they're jerzees on coach Devine's desk so that Rudy could dress for the final game.

I definitely agree with digitalboy72 on this; as the music starts up after he reads the acceptance letter if you don't get chills down you should have someone check your pulse to see if you're still alive.

Anyone who has ever busted their tail working for something and earned it can relate; not just athletes, anyone.

That's a great scene, but my favorite is when he gets into the game and sacks the quarterback. Then they show his family going nuts. Awesome

My faves...

When he gets the acceptance letter, the music really did it for me!

When he shows his accpetance letter to his father in the steelmill, and he announces to everyone My Son's going to Notre Dame!!!

When he starts football tryouts, and the speech the coaches give them before it!

When his team lays down their jerseys on Devines desk, "I want Rudy to play in my position coach."

When his teamates, then the entire crowd, chant "Rudy Rudy"

When he gets in the game, the crowd goes crazy, his friend exuberantly yells- "He's so little"

After the kickoff he's jumping around looking at his coaches "What do I do"???
They tell him to "Stay in there"

The play, we all will remember it well. The music, the tackle, the crowd going wild, his family going nuts!!

If this movie didn't move you, inspire you, make you excel in all you do, you need to watch it again!!!

Every player giving the coach their jerseys in the movie was great although it was just a few players who actually did that in real life.

The best parts have to be when the only guy that gave him hope "the Wise Janitor" says
"you are 5 foot nothing, 100 and nothing, and you got hardly a spec of athletic ability and you hung in with the best college football team in the land for 2 years and your also gonna walk out of here with a degree from the university of Notre Dame. In this lifetime you dont have to prove nothing to nobody but yourself. After what you gone through if you aint done that by now it aint gonna never happen."
The only person to give him hope

Also when he gets the sack at the end and D-Bop says with tears in his eyes "who's the wild man now"

My favorite scene starts with the opening credits, and ends with the ending credits. Its my favorite movie of all time, and I am not ashamed to say this, but every time i watch it, i cry in anticipation of him getting his acceptance letter and when he sacks the quarterback. Also, watch his real story on the DVD, absolutely awesome. If you are not inspired after watching this movie, check your pulse.

There's two.

1) When he discovers he got accepted, after all the hard work & never giving up he finally got in.

2) When he got carried off the ground. And everyone cheering 'Rudy, Rudy'. Proves how much a sport can do.

1. When he opens the letter that he got accepted.

2. "This is the most beautiful sight these eyes have ever seen."

3. "Son, in over 35 years of religious contemplation I've come across only 2 hard undeniable facts: There is a God, and...I'm not him."

4. Devine's speech before the GT game.

T-5. The scene w/ the jerseys being left on Devine's desk
T-5. Dutton's speech to him when he's considering quiting.

Considering I'm an Alum...it has to be Fortunes speech. Especially the part:

"You're also going to walk out of here with a degree from the University of Notre Dame. In this lifetime you don't have nothing to nobody except yourself. And after what you've been through, if you haven't done that by now. It ain't gonna never happen."

I also agree with "This is the most beautiful sight these eyes have ever seen."

I love it when the big tall dude starts chanting "Rudy, Rudy, Rudy...." Then everyone starts to join in slowly.

I always like the scene when D-bob hugs Rudy before leaving to California.

Miami but whatever :P

I like when he goes to the tryouts to meet the Notre Dame coach and all the big football players come jogging through the gate and they knock Rudy's little ass on the ground and one of the assistant coaches or team managers, cant remember which, holds him back to protect him.

You see how tiny Rudy is compared to these guys.

I agree with all the scenes mentioned. I would add
- When Fortune sees Rudy get into the game and make the sack, he is visibly moved and forces a few claps. Then he chokes back his emotion, turns to walk away, and pumps his fist.

Gets me everytime. He understood the whole story, and was thrilled in his own way.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned "I've never asked for anything before, but please, make sure dad is on that bus" or however it goes

I liked a few scenes with D-Bob. I had a buddy like him in college.
