JULIA ROBERTS WHISPERING

i just saw this movie for the first time and Julia whispering through the entire F%$#ing movie drove me completely insane. I had to turn it off halfway through. SPEAK THE F$%# UP!

Yeah I agree with the OP. Roberts' whispering got really annoying half way through. I wish she'd speak properly.

When I said I wanted to be a comedian, they all laughed at me. Well, they're not laughing now!

I agree with a few responses, that there's a reason for her whispering as she is really beaten up by fear, also that with the DVD you can turn on subtitles for the hearing imparied - which I do anytime I watch a movie late with the wife/kids sleeping nearby.

You've touched on something though (and I will vent it here for now) which is the way so many action flicks these days seem to alter between long-winded barely-audible segments of dialog and then sudden ear-shattering moments of action to make your popcorn fly across the room. Auto-leveling helps to some degree, but there are times (late) watching at home I'd just like everything at the same volume level, even if it's Rambo IV (which is loud as hell during the violent scenes). If I want to be "blown away" by the dynamic audio track I'll go to the cinema or crank up the home theater for when everyone's seated and prepared for some noise. Some feature to beat the sound into a narrow band would be handy.

DVD movie manufacturers hear my plea =)

Sooooooooooooooo painful ......

I can understand Julia whispering if she's talking to Denzel in a public space.

But what gets on my nerves is Julia whispering in her hotel room as she explains the Pelican Brief to Denzel.

That's a nice hotel, Julia -- one without paper-thin walls. You can talk to Denzel in a normal voice and NOBODY will overhear you.
