Transrights means that movies like this, sadly, need a disclaimer.

Jokes like "I don't work with the boys because I used to be one" , followed by the phone being hung up are TRANSPHOBIC.

Then the scene where the boy freaks out because he sees Mrs. Doubtfire using the toilet standing up. Transwomen can use the bathroom anyway they want.

He should have simply been like 'oh, Mrs. Doubtfire has different plumming than I thought" and not given it a second thought. Instead he's seen as a pervert and threatened by the children.

I feel like this movie really hails from a different era and we are so much more enlightened now.

Good for her. In the UK, 49% of trans prison inmates are there on sex related offenses. It's great she's looking out for her kids.

He never stated that he was trans. (He wasn't, but in their perspective at the time, he was) I don't blame them for being concerned. It was deception. The same way Sally Field felt deceived that Mrs. Doubtfire was her husband.

You've made me realize that this movie is ahead of its time.

Funnily enough the thing in the movie that to me ages it is the cartoon Daniel quits on at the beginning. No way in today's world would there would be a cartoon for kids where the main protagonist enjoys smoking.
