I don't agree with you. For me it's funny and this movie is like dark humor.

A 50 y.o. man and a (hot) 23 y.o. woman -- only in Hollywood!!

reply

Only in Hollywood? psshh. I don't know where you live dude, but in the 11 states 2 territories and 4 nations I've been in (hot)23 y.o. women don't care if a man is 50. sometimes they care if he's got money, sometimes looks, but the young ladies love the old guys.

As for this movie being boring... (in my deep disturbing voice) How. Dare. You. Bill Murray is a comedic GOD. De Niro is an acting master! Uma Thurman's breasts are gorgeous!!!!! (back to normal dead pan voice) You are obviously not a man. That gets you a little leniency in the Uma department. Though now that I think about it you wasted an entire thread on your opinion and provided no reasoning.

Bill Murray and Robert DeNiro are two of my favorite actors but I must say that I didn't care too much for this film. With those two actors and Martin Scorsese behind this project I thought I would love it, but it was a disappointment to me. I understand that both actors were trying to break free from the roles they normally play and thus they were switched, but I couldn't buy Bill Murray as a gangster in a movie with Deniro playing the wuss.

This film is way above many average police/crime movies, it is a unique film.

reply

I have to agree with you.

I personally really like it when actors move outside their comfort zone, and are willing to take risky parts. When they nail it, like both Murray and DeNiro did, it's just short of magic.

I thought it was a great movie.

reply

Not to put too crude to point on it, but Uma Thurman's breasts were fantastic in this. Shallow sounding comment, but need anymore be said? Decent enough flick.

reply

Uma Thurman must be a horrible actor.

reply

Agreed. And it has it's message too.

reply

I thought they broke free very well. Any casual humour carried into the film about Murray, or hard nosed thug of De Niro was taken in by the observors, not the actors. In that situation, the only way to convince would be to go over the top.

I appreciate the fact that it's a common trick to cast against type to trick the audience, but when the dust has settled, everything is just about the film.

Personally I don't really get on with David Caruso with his CSI: Miami role, but I appreciated all the characters in this hidden gem. Sure, it's not at the top of the pile, but it's way better than a lot of stuff out there. Intrigued as to how/why it came about - off to read....

In fact, the most boring part of this movie so far was the original post.

reply

You're out of your mind.
The world is full of old dudes with money and young women with daddy issues.

reply

I have to agree actually... The script and story were generic, Bill Murray was just doing his Bill Murray thing... There was really nothing of interest in this film at all.... Except for Uma's breasts: They were awesome.

reply

I guess many people just see themselves as De Niro in t his movie. I know I did when I saw it. Sometimes it just feels right to see a looser fighting.

I'm a huge fan of both Robert De Niro and Bill Murray, and this movie has been on my watch list for ages...and I finally got to see it yesterday. It's definitely funny, though Bill Murray seems a little underused and repetitive.Robert De Niro was just amazing, kinda reminded me of his character in 'Casino'.Mike Starr stole the show in my opinion though.

Wow! What an incredible commentary on the movie! This is amazing. Are you a movie critic? Is that what you do for a living? How's 2007 btw? I presume that you're still there. Where you belong.

Never got tired of watching this movie at HBO for decades. Now as a man of 50, I can connect to maddog for how he feels physically and mentally toward a younger pretty femme, I remain single all my life.
