Is this movie OK to watch for a six year old?
I have to babysit my six year old cousin, and I just want to put him in front of the TV and some of the old VHS we still have is this one. Would it be ok?

If I'm being honest, I would let a six year old watch it. Just watch it with him/her and if they get too scared, you can always turn it off. It's more darkly humourous than anything.

You really ought to ask the kid's PARENTS if they'd let him watch it and then follow their preferences.
.
hmm...
i would say... yes, this movie along with movies that are like Saw, Seven, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Child's Play, The Ruins, The Hills Have Eyes, The Devil's Rejects, Ichi, The Audition, etc etc those are all good movies for a SIX year old to watch... of course

My family has always been pretty "free" when it comes to our children selecting what movies they would want to watch, with some exceptions. And I believe I will be the same way. But I would never let a 6-year old watch this movie. I remember seeing it in the drive-in with my parents back in 1993 (when I was either 6 or 7 depending on the month of release), and it scared me to tears. For years I still have nightmares about the leprechaun character. Granted I got over my phobia and have watched all of the films since then, but still the movie scared the crap out of me, and I wouldn't want my child to have the same nightmares.
I would. People these days are too strict about this stuff, I watched all sorts when I was a kid.
sharei watched it as a 4 year old, and i still remember being scared to death... kinda messed me up on sleeping by myself for awhile.
shareI first saw this when I was seven or eight and it effected me in no way. It's actually very very very tame in comparison w/ other R-rated horror films. Another film I would compare it with in terms of gore is Gremlins. There's barely any cussing but Aniston does say the F-word once in a non-sexual way (That's no f uckin' bear).
That Thing That Happened In Waco Where The Church Exploded Was Pretty Freakin Sweet!
Thats when I first watched it, when I was 6. It scared the shyt out of me and I always thought he was in the closet. Alot of ppl I know saw it when it came out in the 90's when we were young and we all got scared.

And what other idealistic person would argue that? Are you Irish? Its not being "strict", its being decent. You keep ANYTHING out of children's lives that negatively affects their behavior. It seems people worry more about political correctness than the violence and sex their kids see on TV, oh and now have easier access to on their barely-earned computers. Dont be political correct, be family friendly and the political attitudes will take care of themselves.
Exactly.

Mmm, I don't know if I would. There's not any sexual content or anything
just language an alot of blood and violence.
If anything it's more funny than scary but u need to check w/his mom n dad.
I watched the movie when i was 4 YEARS OLD.. LEPRECHAUN IS ONE OF MY FIRT MEMORIES.. I STILL DREAMED WITH HIM.. FOR YEARS I THOUGHT HE LIVED underneath my bed ( until i was 11 and was brave enought to see underneath my bed), but i still rememberm and even know that i'm 18, i sometimes still have nightmares..
really this movie can be traumatic for a young kid.

I would have to say no, especially if you're planning on having him watch it by himself.
I would say it's okay if his family always watches horror films, and you'd watch it with him, but that's not necessarily the case.
Seriously, Troll?
