5.9? How can you NOT like this movie
Please explain.
shareThe ratings gone up to 6.0.
"You want me to roll 6,000 of these!? What? Should I quit my job!?" George Seinfeld
I havent seen this in years, but yes, Ive always thought people were too hard on it.
I thought it was funny and misunderstood.
It's been awhile, I should watch it again.
"God Hates Us All"
I think people just didn't understand that this was a satire / parade of action filmmaking... made by the one of the best action directors of the last 30 years. They didn't trust that McTiernan knows what he's doing.
shareIt's kind of brilliant. Long before Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland, or other spoofs of action movies, there was this. It's funny, still works as an action movie (given the context), and actually has some heart too.

People don't get that its a parody of the genre by three of the top names in the business at the time. The Writer of Lethal Weapon, The Star of Terminator and the Director of Die Hard.
It suffered a few studio changes, The Cartoon cat was not in Shane's script and I'm sure he never indented a PG-13 rating.
This movie was awesome to me when I was younger.
I don't know if it will hold up on my next viewing (it's been years since I've seen it), but I expect it to at least be entertaining.
Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!
I haven't seen this in years but I remember thinking it was an excellent parody of action movies in general. Not even just a parody like the "Scary Movie" series and all that junk but it had a lot of inside jokes and things only people who really knew their action movies would understand. Plus I thought the kid was great because I too was just a kid who was obsessed with action movies.
I think the problem is that a lot of people thought it was either supposed to just be a parody of Schwarzenegger movies, and it's not really just that. Or people were just expecting an over the top Schwarzenegger movie in general and instead got a goofy film with a kid and all this travelling through worlds and stuff.
I'd need to watch it again though. Maybe it isn't as good as I remember.
Look at that turtle go bro! [sombrero]
This is my favorite movie when I was in high school - watched it countless times!! The idea of a character came to life was bizarre for me (well now I'm an adult and there are all kinds of Mary Sue self insert storyline everywhere in ever platform so it's not as original now but THEN, it was fascinating idea)
I really loved (and still do) this movie!!! Slater and Arnold is my hero!!
