Cartoon whistle sound effect when Dennis Nedry slips???

Just before Dennis Nedry is killed by the dilophosaur he slips down a mini-waterfall and we hear the same sound effect cartoons use when a character slips on a banana peel. This bugs me every time I watch Jurassic Park. Why on Earth would Spielberg include an egregious cartoon sound effect in an otherwise serious movie? It's so out of place.

Yeah, I also reacted to that sound. Thought I must have misheard but maybe not then..

Haha, I notice this in every rewatch of the film. It really is bizarre placement considering the film is meant to be completely serious most of the time.

I thought it was the rope wheeeing out.

As Oskar said: pretty sure it was the winch line in his hand. When he slipped, he pulled hard on the winch line causing the spool to make that squeal sound.
