Barechested Jeff Goldblum?
Can anyone provide any insight into why this shot was included in the movie? I don't get it???π

shareThereβs a few interviews of Jeff explaining that shot. He said he figured the character would be injured/delirious on pain meds, and possibly suffering from some kind of fever, so he decided to unbutton his shirt. And evidently Spielberg never objected.
shareI get an unbuttoned shirt, but why the weird Greek godlike pose and the camera zooming in? Someone definitely wanted us to think he was sexy! I'm starting to think Spielberg may be a little gay for some of his actors...π€
sharemethinks the lady doth protest too much
shareLOL true. Lady, enough! No Jeff Goldblum for you!
Sorry for that guy Enrique.
JK aside, Ian Malcolm in the first Jurassic Park was kind of a saucy, flirtatious guy. So he has that flamboyant aura, if you will, in any condition he is in. That's how the character feels overall, in my humble opinion.
Like I said above, I enjoyed his character, I actually wish he had more scenes. But that shot was just so weird, especially when I saw it on the big screen a few years back. I just have to cringe and laugh at the same time.
shareYou're not into dudes, i get it. But this is Jeff Goldblum! Even a rock would split in half lol
shareYou're right. He shouldn't have unbuttoned his shirt, but unzipped his pants as well!π
shareWithout it weβd never have the absurdity of this moment:

My eyes!!!π΅
shareBecause you touch yourself at night.
shareSure, but not to the image of Jeff Goldblum and certainly not if he's barechested.
