Did ANYONE like this movie at all?

Because i thought it was AWFUL!It's almost as bad as part 5!And that's not saying much!

reply

t thought it was pretty good!
theres a thing i call SAME OLD *beep*
but this acully had something new you dumbass!

reply

What the whole jumping from body to body thing? Is that what your saying was "new"?That's been done a HUNDERD TIMES!That's not new at all!

reply

didnt the hidden do this? i think i messed my words up, i like how the did something different for a friday movie... it wasnt new

reply

Well, it was new for the Friday the 13th series.

reply

you know.. ill be honest, i accually really liked it alot for some reason.. i love all the friday the 13ths, but this is accually one of my personal favorites (dont rip on me too hard, im being honest though) its no where near perfect, and some scenes ill agree are weak..the story line isnt the best... but i liked how they took a risk to try something new... Its way better then jason X imo..., they didnt do the camp approach, cuz you already have like 6-7 movies that already provide that..why continue doing the same thing.. a sequal would be pointless... but what i do love about it, is the *beep* GORE!

This movie is so *beep* gory, i loved it for that reason..its a fun movie for me to watch..when that chick gets ripped in half..holy *beep* i was laughing my ass off! its not ment to be a serious movie, and i think because of that, it failed both with the audience and box office.. but its one of those movies you approach with a open mind... rip on me all you want for liking it, i dont care, but i think this movie was just fun.. the gore, some of the comedy between the cop and steven was pretty funny.. this movie is just a gore/comedy fest all over it, and its extremely cheesy..and i loved that it wasnt being TOO serious... Aside from this movie though, The best has got to be final chapter or jason lives..

reply

It doesn't bother me that other people like it.What bothers me is that i personaly don't like it.

reply

I thought the body hopping was kind of dumb, but overall i was entertained. I enjoyed all the Friday 13th movies except the dismal Jason lives (part V).

Yes, I thought it was intersting. Better than some of the other entries in the series, not as good as the original, but they never are. I personally appreciate the fact they tried something different. I was getting sick of the same-old, same-old.

Part V was bad... but not as bad as VIII or X. With "Jason Takes Manhattan", they wasted a cool idea by only having him be in NYC for about 15 minutes at the end, and his death was beyond stupid. (Inexplicable Toxic-Waste flood that melts him into a little boy... right...)

And X was just... odd. I appreciate some of the comedy they had, making refernece that it is Jason in the future, and playing around with the idea, but overall, probably the weakest entry.

reply

I completely agree with Pantera and MaximumMadness

"Jason Goes to Hell" is a great entry into the series and isn't the same story that had been played seven movies before it where Jason kills people who go to Crystal Lake. This movie has things that any horror fan would love; melting people and tons of killing. No, it doesn't have much of "Jason" as you know him-but it is the same character. That is the difference between this and the fifth movie, this is actually still Jason, even though he is in different bodies.

Watching this and seeing the Necronomicon from the Evil Dead series appear on the film makes me sad that Ash won't be in the next Freddy vs. Jason movie. It would be a great intro into the next film, just like Freddy's hand was a prelude to FvJ.

Overall, I loved it. I saw this movie as a kid and just watched it again and I thought it was great. It has great special effects and an interesting story that is a change of pace. So, it depends on what you like. If you watch the movie just to see a hockey mask killer, then you won't like it that much. But if you like something different, this will be for you. But what you have to remember, it is still Jason that is the killer. Halloween III didn't have Michael in it in any way, shape or form. So, there is no comparison.

reply

The whole damn series is lame. I only watch the Jason movies because I get off on the murders. Plus the tent sex scene was ok, but the movie was lame.

I liked the hockey mask hamburgers..that's about it.

Part 9, (Jason Goes to Hell)was the first Friday the 13th that I saw all the way through. It is my favorite of the series and as mentioned above has much going for it. At this point in the series, there was no harm in mixing it up a bit. I appreciate the movie for what it is and think it builds upon the mythos quite well.

Acknowledging Freddy at the end was the icing on the cake. I like to think of the source of their powers/origins beineg fairly realistict, considering they exist in the same world.

Actually you can find the thought of an evil entity jumping between people in a lot of friday 13th movies. Poor Tommy Jarvis is "posessed" in the ending of both the fourth and fifth film, and it could also explain why the paramedic goes berzerk in part five.

Off course I can see that this is a little bit far fetched, but I guess I´m infected by that virus that makes horror fans try to see the logic even if the production companies couldn´t care less.

reply

I liked it. It wasn't as good as some of the others.

MAJOR SPOILER

My favorite part was the part at the end where Freddy grabs Jason's mask and pulls it underground.

Its not great but I liked it.

I think the only thing this movie had going for itself was the fact that they made it out to be "The final Friday", the fact actor from Friday the 13th the series John D LeMay played a lead role, the ending fight scene, and most of all the shocking and somewhat kickass last shot of the movie.

It isn't the best in the series, but much better then Jason X in my taste.

Yes! There just isn't enough John D. LeMay around.

I love this movie. Like others have already said, it's not the best Jason movie but it's far from the worst **coughJasonXcough**. They tried something new to this franchise and that's always going to p*ss off some of the fans. It was a risky move and I think it turned out fine.

I agree. I really enjoyed this film.....it wasnt the best friday the 13th film...but it was pretty damn good in my opinion. I like how they switched it up on us and gave us something totally different. I really applaud them for that. It was pretty unique to try that. I was really shocked because after seeing Jason Takes Manhattan I was expecting this to be even worse maybe??? But I thought to myself that couldnt be possible as how horrendous part 8 really was.....and I was shocked to find out that not only was this film a lot better than part 8, it actually isnt a bad friday the 13th film at all....I thought it was pretty damn good actually, I was definitely entertained!
