I don't know why but that's always been my favorite joke of the whole movie.

"Dan Marino should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell. Would you like a cookie son?"

That's definitely a very funny and unexpected line in the middle of all that fighting.

What makes it even funnier is that it reveals overtly, what so many movies try to convey covertly. Movies try to make war look 'cool', so when the audience is recruited and brainwashed, it'll feel like a good thing to go murder innocent civilians on the other side of the planet.

War propaganda is not supposed to be so overt - so it becomes really funny, when what the military tries to do is blurted out in such an unrealistically truthful and open way.

That _IS_ the message of many war movies. It's just never said out loud.

Often times, when these 'subliminal' messages that are supposed to make us feel (but not think), and that are aimed directly at our sub-consciousness (bypassing all rational protection) are moved from the area of 'feel' to 'thought', it becomes incredibly funny.

Loaded with favorite parts. I like listening to what the enemy are actually saying over the subtitles. "Iwonteathalibut!"
