The puritan girl

Did the witches kill her?

reply

You mean the girl at the beginning of the movie? Yes they did.

Yes - kind of dark ...

reply

Yes. If you watch what happened closely, they stole all the years of life the little girl had, (which probably, based on how long people lived in those days, would have probably been roughly 50 years or so, considering she was already 8-10 years old, and most people in the 17th century rarely lived beyond age 50 or 60, if they were lucky), her hair turns gray, and she's sitting limply with her head hung down in the chair afterwards.

However, the film-makers kinda goofed up, because they didn't tell the actress to stay still and pretend to be dead, so she's sitting in the background during part of the scene, kicking her feet and moving, despite her character getting magically killed just minutes earlier.

post mortem-twitching..

I didn't notice the gray hair though!

That's the only explanation the viewers can make, because otherwise, it's a serious goof-up. Most corpses don't sit there, looking bored, and kicking their legs around if they're stuck in a chair. Now I've heard of eyes blinking and mouth moving in dismembered heads, but that's not the same thing.

I didn't notice her twitching until just recently, and I've seen this movie a dozen times or more, so maybe they thought it wasn't a big deal (although once you see it you can't unsee it!), but I did miss the gray hair. Next time it's on I'll look for it.
