Did anyone watch the Behind-the-Scenes?

I found some wonderful videos on YouTube about how they did the special-effects for some parts of this movie. It was fascinating! :D

Like, when the witches were flying on their broomsticks, they had the actresses mounted on these big metal arms that could move around and simulate them flying. For safety reasons, they also wore harnesses hidden in their costumes and attached to strong fishing lines to hidden boom arms that were out of sight of the cameras. Sarah Jessica Parker enjoyed the rigs so much, she actually would take along a newspaper to read between takes, and would hide it before getting ready for the camera.

Turns out the most difficult stunt to shoot was where Winnifred dove in on her broom to capture Dani. Bette Midler kept missing! lol She was trying really hard not to knock Thora Birch down and hurt her at the same time, so it was a very tricky shot to make.

They even made little doll puppets of the 3 witches to use for distance shots, and the resemblance on a miniature scale was amazing. That's what they used when the witches kidnapped Dani and exploded out of the attic of Max's house as they flew away. The dolls were also used when the witches were heading home afterwards, and Winnifred tells Sarah to sing.

The CGI for Binx was surprisingly good for that era, considering how primitive the tech was in '92 and '93. He really looks like a talking cat, versus a cartoon cat stuck in a live-action film.

The actor playing Billy was Doug Jones (who LOVES to play supernatural creatures, if you have seen his other films). He got to be made up and wore a horrible wig. He had actual moths in his mouth to be released when he cut the stitches off. Again, that was also a difficult shot to make in the film, but they did it :)
