I was 16 or so when this came out, but somehow it escaped me at the time. This was an amazingly brutal and silly movie. I loved it.

I had to mature as a film connoisseur to realize this was a modern western, as opposed to just another JCVD actioner. Great flick.

Absolutely. Evidently John Woo named the Van Cleef character as an omage to Lee Van Cleef.

Agreed as far as Woo goes. I'd have to think about my favorite JCVD flick.

I've gone full circle with this movie. I was 9 when this came out and I loved it. Then when I grew up I thought it was just silly and bad and I couldn't get into it at all. Now I watched it again after many years and I thought it was kind of awesome. It's still silly as hell, but a whole lot of fun.

Yes. It's a great bad movie. I've learned to appreciate them much more as I get older.
