Is this a Western???

I had a feeling watching this that it is actually a western, disguised as a modern day movie.

Even the way it is shot, with all these closeups of Van Dame, the mysterious out-of-towner who is there to save the day, it just felt very western.

Most of Woo's films have a western theme to them.

A lot of modern-day movies are considered Western-like. Some people refer to Die Hard as a modern Western.
