Tarantino didn't like this movie

Because Phil Connors became a changed man at the end. Quentin thought that was inconsistent and betrayed the film's trajectory.

It's funny because it's not like Beatrix Kiddo changing character from a ruthless assassin to a doting soccer mom is any more consistent either😆

I think he just likes evil characters and wanted Phil to remain miserable and unhappy.

Has any of his films featured a character arc?

The Hateful Eight has 2 characters who start out hating each other come to respect each other at the end.

Whatever. I don't agree with him. This movie would be pointless if Phil didn't better himself.

I'm sure QT would have added buckets of red blood being splattered everywhere every time Phil jumped off the tower, or stepped in front of the truck, or...

I'm not doubting that Tarantino said this but a link would help. Can you provide his quote for us?

Tarantino strikes me as the type of person that would root for the bad guy when he's watching a movie. Lol

I don't think GHD would have worked with Phil remaining miserable but it might have made for some pretty funny sequels. As of today, we could be at GHD Part 12 coming soon to a theater near you. 😀

I wasn't overly impressed with it. I liked the general idea. but/spoiler, the way he succeeded in the film, was to get laid. that's original.
