It seems to me that Prendergast hints this to D-fens in the scene near the end where he is "negotiating" do diasarm him. He says that it was hard for her wife to lose her beauty when she gave birth to their daughter, and that the daughter died inexplicably during sleep. It seems that he hints that his wife killed their daughter, giving her the blame for her lost beauty.
Are we supposed to believe that this happened?
It wondered that as he emphasized how old she was when she died. It seemed to me that he at least thought she might have.
shareI don't think Prendergast's wife killed their daughter. She was nuts.......but, probably from a nervous breakdown? Mental instability is A MAJOR theme in this movie imo. Bill, Bill's mother and Prendergast's wife. Also, why the hell would Prendergast stay with his wife, if she killed their daughter? I imagine an investigation was performed. Wouldn't something THAT suspicious come of the investigation? It seemed to me that Prendergast was a by the book cop after all....
