Nando Parrado Book--Miracle in the Andes: 72 Days on the Mountain
Fascinating account by one of the survivors. Really shows how remarkable/improbable it was that sixteen people survived under such harsh conditions.
This passage really stood out for me:
High-altitude cold is an aggressive and malevolent thing. It burns you and slashes you, it invades every cell of your body, it presses down on you with a force that seems strong enough to crack bone. The drafty fuselage shielded us from the winds that would have killed us, but the air inside the plane was viciously frigid.
