Would MMPR be successful if it debuted now?

I was wondering because I didn't grow up with the franchise and it only came on my radar recently because I work with a lot of people in their early 20s. They're excited about the new movie coming out, and they like the merch we carry (I work at a bookstore with lots of comics/manga/superhero stuff). I watched the first episode on Netflix, and it made me wonder if the appeal now is nostalgia? It seems stilted and corny, but admittedly I didn't watch it as a kid when it first came on. Is it worth skipping ahead to later seasons?

I remember when the show came out. I was in the 5th or 6th grade. It was embarrassingly cheesy to us then, but we watched because it was on after Batman the Animated series and it was fun enough.

I can see a younger audience enjoying it, but unlike today, we couldn't just stream another show of our choice. So that would work against it. So, I do think it would be as much a hit.

I doubt it. You saw how well the "reboot" did. It was a crap film and forgotten in less than a year. I have a feeling this show would have done just as poorly if shown today. It premiered at the perfect time for kids to enjoy it, cheesy and corny as it was.

Almost 100% no. But I think Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers debuting outside of the early 90s would fundamentally make it a different show. The special effects, the rock music, the humor, nearly everything about it would be different. Power Rangers is still on and it's no where near as successful as it once was. Some of the lowest rated seasons in the franchise's history were the best though so success doesn't dictate quality.
