In the premier episode that's what Lt. Giardello says to newcomer Tim Bayliss. He thought he was young to be a homicide detective. In reality, the actor was about thirty six. Guess he just had one of those "baby faces".

But he doesn't say that when Mike Kellerman, played by Reed Diamond, transferred to Homicide from arson.

In reality, he's ten years younger than Kyle Secor. I thought he looked just as youthful. I guess "G" didn't!

Can't use actor's real age to try and determine what the character's age is. In the show, Pembleton is obviously older than Bayliss, but in real life, Andre Braugher is actually younger than Kyle Secor. All I know is that Bayliss is 37 by the time he gets shot (the medical staff working on him says this while caring for him).

Then we had Sheppard, which looked like she was 18. So hard to take her seriously.

Maybe this one is more subjective but i also thought Barnnfather looked 15 for the entire 7 seasons.

Yes, Barnfather looked like a teen-ager!
