I was ten years old when the first season aired on MTV in 1993. My dad did not want to pay for cable tv which meant I did not get MTV on my television; even if my family did have cable, my parents (especially my mom) would not let me watch this show. I would however watch when I went to either a friend's house or a relative's house and sneak watch. What I remember about the music videos part of the episodes I hated. I would watch the story and then would get angry that the episode had to break in the middle of the story just to show Beavis and Butt-Head either liking or hating one or more music videos they were watching on the couch in their house. Then the story would come back.
Now that I am thirty-nine years old, I have seen a lot of the episodes (albeit without the music videos) and now I wish I had seen the episodes in the order they originally aired the days those episodes aired on MTV. Only if every season were either on DVD, Blu-ray, digital, or streaming with the music videos, I could sit and binge watch every episode in the order of broadcast date and be satisfied.
Too bad Mike Judge will not ever release complete seasons. The Mike Judge Collection volumes 1, 2, & 3 do not do it for me; some episodes are not on the DVDs and the ones that are on the DVDs are not in order of publication date and the music videos are missing. I get the reason the music videos are missing because it would mean the DVDs would be incredibly expensive as the artist(s) of those music videos would be asking for a lot of money.
To answer the question, I hated the music videos as a kid but now I enjoy watching the music videos.
