How often do you watch ATGB?

Just wondering if I'm the only one who could watch it every day and still love it as much. I bought that DVD set a year or so ago and watch and rewatch it every chance I get. I especially like to watch it at night while trying to wind down. I think it is just such a comforting show, nobody is ever really ugly or mean and underneath it all they really love each other, never mind that the acting is just perfect. It's my comfort TV anybody else?

I watch ATGB every saturday on PBS and sunday (which is just a repeat of saturdays show). When my friends ask me what I'm doing on satruday I say watching my brit. comdies. I love ATGB and can't wait to get the full series, like you said it's just a good show not like most of the crap we see on tv today. I've see the complete series at least 4 or 5 times and the show still makes me laugh, I could watch it everyday.

I watch the entire series at least once every four months or so. But now I have to wait until my grown children have finished watching and passing the DVD set between them. Maybe I will buy them each a set of their own for Christmas. It is the only way I will ever see my box set again!!!!

It's on every weeknight on WGBX in Boston, and I watch it most nights, even though I've already seen the entire series at least 20 times. The ensemble acting never ceases to amaze me.

reply

So far, just twice a week.

I don't have the box set (but it's on my Christmas list!) so I only get to watch it once a week, if I'm lucky, when it comes on PBS on Sunday. But sometimes Masterpiece Mystery is an extra half-hour long so I don't get ATGB that week :(

reply

Every Saturday night here, near Annapolis, Maryland, USA. We usually get 2 episodes, along with several other "Brit-Wit" comedies. We've seen all the episodes at least a half-dozen times, and they are always funny!

Lisa, I bought the DVD box set about three months ago and I watch it almost every night while going to sleep and just let it play. I agree, it is so comforting and nice to have on when you are ending a long day.

reply

It's funny you say you listen when going to sleep, I do the same thing, I can't sleep with other shows on but this one I can! And HMS I'm in Md too, watch MPT every week exept they are always moving my Britcoms and putting on concerts and "specials" I hate that!

I find ATGB incredibly comforting, so i do watch it when it is raining outside. I live in a sea-climate ;) .

I don't watch often but I've got the DVDs so I can watch at any given moment.
It is one oif my fave sitcoms alongside only fools, and faw!ty towers.
It is even superior in other ways

I'm watching it for about the 6th time straight through right now. My daughter gave me the boxed set for Christmas a few years ago and I think it's about the best gift she's ever given me. I don't know why, but as has already been posted, I find it very comforting and sane when so much in this world doesn't seem to be.

I bought all nine series about six months ago. And i am up to the 4th series now. I just try watch it when i am in the mood to really, and this is mostly at night like someone else said to wind down. And when there is nothing else on the tv. So i dont wathch it that often. The fact that ive got them on dvd i know there is no rush and that i can cathch it anytime i feel the desire to.

I like lionels different shirts he wears each episode, and that he wears a shirt all the time, and never without a shirt.

I would also be quite happy to watch it every day, but for now I limit myself to the two episodes per week my PBS station shows every Saturday night. I have all of the episodes on VHS just in case the station stops airing. Now, I find I have access to the series through the new Netflix program of watching certain shows on TV anytime through a little Roku unit. The box was $100, and they have a few of my favorites available such as "As Time Goes By" and "All Creatures Great and Small." It's a wonder I can tear myself away from the TV!

I watch it every weekday afternoon at 5:30. It comes on right after "Are You Being Served". Funny thing is that they used to rotate the 5:30 timeslot for other British shows, but apparently people called the station and complained and it's been the ATGB timeslot for about 3 years straight now. I've probably seen the series straight through about 12 times, but can't get enough of it.

I am currently suffering from a hip injury, so am lolling away my recuperation by watching the entire series one after the oterh--and I caught the reunion special on PBS last night with guest spots by Judy and Sandy--they were wonderful!

I think I could watch it over and over--I love the humor, and the characters, and I find myself wishing I could really visit that country village and have tea with Mrs. Bale.

I can and usually do watch every weekday evening on PBS here in Boston. Discovered it about 10 yrs ago and it's my favorite of all the Britcoms. The Vicar of Dibley is a close second however!

I watch it every Saturday night on PBS still. And since I own the whole set on DVD, I watch them ALL over again once a month or so :) I love this show!

Sunday on PBS right before the Vicar of Dibley which is my absolute fave.

reply

For me it is Sunday Nights on Channel 13, via the "OETA" that is associated with "PBS". As I write, I'm watching "The Vicar of Dibley".

Anyway, my Britcom viewing begins at 10:00 - P.M. with, "Are You Being Served?", then "Keeping Up Appearances", then "As Time Goes By", and now "The Vicar of Dibley". Watching these shows over the years, I've caught many mentions of "Doctor Who" which I watch on Friday Nights on the same channel at 10:25 - P.M., right after "The Red Green Show" or "The New Red Green Show", depending.

Sometimes "The Thine Blue Line" has been shown in place of Geraldine's show though.

When watching the Harry Potter movies I have fun picking out people I've seen from these shows. Also, when watching the Bond or Riddick movies, and I see Dame Dench, I can't help but think about Jean too! So I get sort of distracted by episode memories. I don't think of her as "M" but as "Jean"!

I used to see "One Foot in the Grave" and "Faulty Towers", but I don't remember when. We're about to get "Dish TV" so that may increase my viewings of these shows. As it stands now, both "ATGB" and "TVOD" are in their first season after just recently airing the final episodes. As for "AYBS?" I'm not sure of the episode order. Tonight "Young Mister Grace" was replaced by his brother. On "KUA" I'm not sure which "Rose" is the first one and which is the replacement.
