I know it is the point of the story (dork gets superb piece of ass as girlfriend), but the movie practically shows how wrong this fantasy ultimately is.
Wayne and Cassandra had zero chemistry and looked mismatched.
They barely would pass as friends.
At best, she needed a Tommy Lee type of dork, not a mom's basement refugee like Wayne. The happy ending is actually sad.
I've known many "odd couples" over the years and while we see this in a movie and know it's all made up to entertain us, it is very common in real life.
People who connect through an understanding and respect and acceptance of each other can create a strong bond. Their first meetings may have also involved an act which left a strong impression and like for the other person and they may have shared similar interests. Can be quite strong to ignore!
Nah it's fine. They don't sizzle off the screen or anything, but it's nothing off-putting.
It's an SNL comedy, and the ridiculousness of their universe is kind of the point.
