I've heard this movie referred to as "movie with no bad guys" , as the judge and the sheriff etc are all trying to do the correct thing , as is Vinnie.
Its annoying they "looked" guilty , but thats not the legal systems fault .

To be honest, the thing I kind of agree with is not telling suspects "why" they're getting arrested. I've noticed that cops don't typically do this. In the movie, Stan and Bill don't know what they're being charged with. It's usually assumed that a person knows why they're getting arrested but it's not always the case.
But yeah, never use a movie as a reference guide for any legal system in the world. I mean, in real life, it's not likely that Stan and Bill would've been held for anymore than about 48 hours, they honestly didn't have enough evidence to charge them with anything.
