Aya Takanashi is very beautiful in this movie.
I was surprised to see that this was her ONLY movie.
She didn't die, did she?
I suppose maybe she is acting in Japan or somthing but I can't find anything about her anywhere.
Does anybody know anything about her. I just can't believe she wouldn't get anymore roles.
This wasn't her only movie. Imdb isn't very good with following non-Western film careers in non-English-speaking countries. She was never a very prolific actress but she did some other roles in Japan and apparently she still does voiceover work now and then. But probably she just didn't like acting that much, or saw it more as a hobby than as a career. She also married and had kids so acting surely took a back seat to that. Apparently she owns a bar or something in Hokkaido.
But the whole thing people keep repeating about how she was "blacklisted" because of her "love scene" with Tom Selleck is total nonsense and smacks of a prejudiced stereotyping of Japan. Japan is indeed rather xenophobic (and has been becoming more so in recent years thanks to the government of that neo-fascist Shinzo Abe whipping up ultranationalist hysteria over China and Korea), but not to such a ridiculous extent. It's also not that prudish of a society. There's no basis to believe that she couldn't get roles anymore because of a "love scene" with a Westerner, particularly considering that it wasn't even really a love scene anyway.
