The best 10 minutes ever filmed?

I've had this conversation a few times with friends, but for me the sequence starting with Duncan's sacrifice and ending with Magua's death is the most brilliant thing I've ever seen on screen. The combination of stunning visuals, a perfect score, and about five very visceral emotional hits.. it just kills me every time.

Granted I haven't seen everything I should have in the world of film, but if you can point me to something else this great, please do :)

Couldn't agree more!! am glad I'm not alone here have watched this scene a ridiculous amount of times. Love how it slows, taking on a more sombre tone with Alice on the cliff edge , then picks up again Stirring stuff!

Beautiful cinematic poetry with no words spoken (bar the Last of the Mohicans prayer).

The way Uncas tapped his father's shoulder, the duel where you just knew Uncas was doomed, the way Magua killed Uncas without remorse, the way Magua motioned Alice to come, the way Alice jumped to her dooom, the way Magua did not care about her death, the way Chingachook (sp?) killed Magua swiftly. Cinematic brilliance.

Can I quickly say that I absolutely agree with you. I watched the last 10 minutes again, just a moment ago. OMG, is it beautiful!!! The location...everything. Alice's face, right before she leaps. The lack of dialogue, I love that. Dramatic romantic epic perfection.

That location though? Oh my...come on, in this movie, the location really plays a magnificent role in this movie. Its incredible there. I think I watch this movie for many reasons. The characters, the setting, the magnificent music...its all so epic romantic.

And the abs! Got to love all the men in loin cloths with such great abs. :-) Smack those abs on some ad posters for CrossFit, lol.
