Home alone 1 vs Home alone 2..What is your fav?

I much, much prefer part one as it felt fresh and original at the time. Also I felt John Hughes script was much tighter and clever than part 2. I watched both back to back and I do feel part 2 suffers when watched right after the 1st one. Part 2 is pushing the suspension of disbelief to breaking point. I know the first one is far from realistic but the second one is so ridiculous that it nearly feels like a parody of the first one. The shovel man was one of the emotional part of the first one and he was a well written character and I loved that scene he had in the church with Kevin, in comparison the bird lady did not have the same emotional depth and she clearly felt like she was written to take the place of the shovel man from part 1. Also I know the actress who play bird lady she lives in Dublin and I always see her on the week end when I go to the market. She's retired now, she always say she wants to adopt my dog lol so it sorts of break the fantasy. Not a bad film and I loved it as a kid but as an adult part one is definitely my favorite out of the two.

Home Alone is the better film. I love 2 also, but its a rehash but it does have better traps imo and having the whole city as a trap is a fun idea

How do you say you know her yet you don't even know Brenda Fricker's name when people like me do? But if you really do know her, have you ever seen her Oscar?

lol Well, I do not know her to the point of spending time in her house, she do not even know my name. I just know her from going to the Market and she always pet my dog, she seems to love animals a great deal. I did not even know it was her until people told me it was, she his a very simple person, you wouldn't think she won an Oscar. She is retired and just live a very simple life.

I love both, but 1 is better. 2 is great, but it's also milking everything 1 did without the same heart and with no real resolution. You don't feel like Marv and Harry couldn't get out of prison again and the homeless bird lady doesn't end up with a home or her family or anything like that. So while it's fun, but it's lesser quality.

I think you can only really prefer the second if you grew up with it. It's a much weaker entry, but it does have a lot of nostalgic scenes

They're both awsome but the 2nd one has a more interesting and intense plot.

Home Alone 1 because it was fresh and original at the time, plus I prefer the scenery of Kevin being at his own home than him being lost in New York, I also liked Old Man Marley more than the Pigeon lady.

The first is a true classic, rewatchable every year: 9/10. Never gets old.

The second is decent. Basically a remake of the original on steroids, but lacking the charm. Certain scenes are better than anything in the original (hotel staff) but overall it doesn't flow anywhere near as well and is overlong by about half an hour. 6 or 6.5/10. I wouldn't watch it every year, maybe every 5 or so and that is pushing it.

I don't like the 2nd movie at all. I'd sometimes watch it when it was on during Christmas, but not anymore.
