Well, to each their own, but I just watched this for the second time tonight (on Blu-ray) and I actually liked it even better than the first time around. In fact, I think it's one of the best of the Heisei series, with a cool Godzilla design, nice epic sweep to a lot of the visuals, above-par special effects, excellent Ifukube score, very restrained use of the little girl, and virtually none of the cutesiness or dumb humor of other G films. I'm having a hard time understanding any of your criticisms, especially since it is not a remake of the 1964 Godzilla vs. Mothra at all, which I think is one of the better Showa entries. Have you ever seen Godzilla vs. Megalon or Godzilla vs. Hedorah? Absolutely the pits.
I grew up on the Showa series and love most all of them, but I have to objectively admit that several of the Heisei and Millenium entries are better all-around movies than many of those produced in the Showa era, particularly Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack and Godzilla vs. Megaguirus. You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but from your trashing of every aspect of it (especially Ifukube's score [!!??]) it seems like we watched two entirely different movies.
