OH!!!! MY!!!!! GOD!!!!!!!1

This has to be one of the worst, most lamest superhero movies I've ever seen

reply

Guess you never seen the Fantastic Four 1 or 2 with Ioan Gruffud, Batman & Robin, Ang Lee's The Hulk or the the first 2 Captain America movies with Reb Brown, Not to mention Superman Returns. cause all those were much worse than this Captain America. Let's not Forget the last 2 Spiderman movies.

reply

All of those films you mentioned were better than this piece of trash. And Spiderman 2 was actually the best of the trilogy. If you actually think Captain America (1990) was better than those films, then something is seriously wrong with you. Batman & Robin was an awful film, yet even that is better than Captain America. Captain America (1990) has easily got to be the worst superhero/comic book film of all time.

reply

Yeah saying that Spider-man 2 is worse than this is ridiculous and while something like Batman & Robin had just as awful a script, they were all superior in the technical departments. You might not have liked those films and they might be fresher in your memory, but this is (I'm sorry to say) awful. I loved it as a kid but it's not hard to impress a 7 year old. This came out after Tim Burtons Batman and while that is a film with many flaws, it shows it was possible to make a half decent super hero film back in those days. I know it had a smaller budget but that was because Marvel was all over the place and were selling rights to properties like they didn't give a crap.

How much s**t is there on the menu and what *beep* flavour is it?

Marvel discovered its potential to make films after the first Tobey Spider Man...

Before that it was all DC...

Actually, now I remember, the first one that gave proof that Marvel was "filmable" was Blade. It is still the only case when the movie adaptation surpasses the original material.

oh.... now you remember...

reply

For some reason Blade never gets credit for that. Even when discussing Deadpool or Black Panther many people were claiming that a comic book movie could not be financially successful if it was R rated or had a black lead respectively. The Reynolds curse, however, is another thing entirely -- perhaps Blade 3 should be added to this list.

Wow Dude, you're rude! Nothing the guy said deserved that response.

Now, on the subject of dumbasses... you guys are talking about which comic book company made better movies. Ahhhh, hate to tell you this but the only thing the comic book company did was liscense these movies and collect a residual fee(until very recently when they did begin a more active role). All of the movies mentioned were made by other studios and production companies. The actual brand of comic book made no difference whatsoever!

I have to agree with the OP even the Reb Brown movies were better than this film.

If you think F41or F42 is as bad as the 1990s Fantastic Four you don't know anything

reply

What about the 1st Fantastic Four film? Not the ones w/ Jessica Alba but the FIRST one from a few years back? Hell I still remember seeing a review for it in some comics magazine & the critic said it was a wretched horror. He even cautioned that if you saw it at some yard sale, flea market, or convention, going for top dollar, to keep on walking as the seller was obviously trying to make back the $$ they'd lost in buying a copy.

Heck, as for low budget FX, I heard in that version of FF they inserted vintage footage of one of the old Apollo rockets taking off to stand in for the craft the team takes off in on their flight to become the FF!

Still, I remember seeing the movie poster for this version of Captain America hanging at a theater around here yet never seeing the flick play at said theater. It probably closed midway through the screening!

reply

The reason that Fantastic Four film was so horrible was it was 1. Shot in 2 weeks. And 2. It was just made so the studio could hold onto the film rights. They had to be in production by Christmas 94 or something like that and they wrapped production around New Years. And 3. The film was made without the intention of being released and it was never officially released. Again it like this movie. And the Spider-Man movie before the Rami triogly were all made just to keep the film rights.

reply

My spidey sense tells me it probably makes Dolph Lundgren's turn at The Punisher a Citizen Kane by comparison! I'll admit that I was wowed the 1st time I saw Lundgren's flick b/c, hell, It Was Frank Castle on screen!!
Its painful (or at least humorous) to watch now! The Thomas Jane one was better but I never saw the War Zone one to see if it was the best.

reply

I still think the Lundgren Punisher is the best one out of the three.

reply

The new one isnt much better

reply

This movie could have been better, but they ran out of money during production, I imagine it would have gone to the theater then, I don't like the fact that Red Skull is Italian, and that they made Captain America a secret. The guy playing Captain America was perfect for it I think, also keep in mind that DC was bigger back then and Marvel didn't have much money, if they had funds like today, I'm sure this would have been up there with Batman and Terminator 2. As for the guy posting above me, quit being a little pansy fan boy, the new one was good, and it stayed true to the comics, don't nitpick every little thing moron.

The first comic book produced in India came out in 1947

Mr. India, is a crappy Bollywood film made in the 70's get your facts straight, Chris Evans looks nothing like whoever Mr. India is. Captain America is an American comic made by Joe Simon, he drew inspiration from friends and even a guy from his high school basketball team, besides, No one here in America has heard of this *beep* film you speak of, and there's a reason for that

No, people hated this movie back in 1990 too. The only ones that might like it are children who can't tell difference from good and bad movie!

This film came out 1 year after Tim Burton's Batman and only 1 year before Terminator 2! Only 3 years before JURASSIC PARK! This movie is even crappy for 90s standards! It went direct to video in 1990, that's sign it sucks back then too!

Everyone has guilty pleasures. "Terminator 2" and "Jurassic Park's" budgets were way bigger than this, so course the effects are going to be better. BTW: I have never seen this film.

Yeah, this film and the old Fantastic Four movie was pure crap. I've seen them both once and that was enough. Thank godness film technology caught up to what could be done in comic books. Just about any more can be made now with some movie magic. I'm glad I'm alive during this era.

reply

You've GOT to get this in BLU-RAY! You can more clearly see the bad acting and horrible directing!
