The Brides were pathetic in this

So underutilized and weak and they were killed way too easily. The Brides in Van Helsing were much better. Elena Anaya in particular was excellent.

reply

They were hot at least

reply

Sure but the ones in Van Helsing were hotter.

reply

Guess I’ll have to check it out, would you say Van Helsing is better than this version?

reply

They are too different to say. Van Helsing is more action movie than this. But do check it out.

reply

I'd say that was a close-run thing.

reply

Monica Bellucci. Wotta skank.

reply

Yeah the Brides were hot but still pathetic. Too easily defeated and they hardly do anything.

reply

I’m in need of a rewatch, it’s been a few years since I’ve seen it.

I’d offer that the idea might have been that the ‘brides’ didn’t have powers/strength equal to Dracula himself, and thus were easier to defeat.

reply

I get they are meant to be weaker than Dracula but still they didn’t even put up a fight but were all beheaded in their sleep

reply

If Dracula could walk around in the daytime, why couldn't the brides?

reply

They did fuck all in Dracula (1931) too.

reply

They did look creepy in that crypt, though!

reply

Wrong!

The one think you can't call a scene of Monical Bellucci raping Keanu Reeves is "pathetic". In fact, that was the one scene in the movie that burned with the kind of sensuality, passion, and suspense that the director wanted for the whole movie.

reply

Yes but to be fair they at least served a purpose in this. In the original 1931 Dracula they just scare Renfield, are told by Dracula to leave him be, and then just stay there in Translvania while Dracula moves to England. At least here they get killed by Van Helsing so they won't menace the people who live nearby.

I like the original Dracula but the brides of Dracula are rather pointless in it.

reply

They were excellent.
