Last half of the final season....

Boy, they really scraped the bottom of the barrel for show ideas after Gina left.... Episodes like auction for the clock and the one where Pam has a twin cousin in a psychiatric hospital.... You can tell they just stopped caring cause they knew the show was coming to an end.

Martin had always said there was more of the show to see. He wanted his character and Gina to have a baby and continue on. The show could probably continued for at least another season, maybe two.

Yea the episode with Pam and her "twin" was extremely painful to watch. The show just needed to end because it was that bad...

It was amazing to see how much impact Gina had when she was gone from the show. She was the moral voice of reason that kept the crew in line. Tommy was too, but still followed after Martin's antics most of the time. It was also interesting how the dynamics had changed with Pam picking up the slack and nearly outshining Martin. It was like she was Gladys Knight and the guys were the pips.

Wow I never knew that he wanted the show to continue. I had always gotten the impression that he was ready to go do movies. That makes me sad cuz I always wanted them to play up that dynamic...Gina and Martin being parents.

I keep seeing the final season of Martin in Wal Mart, I start to get it but decide against it because I remember just how bad that season was. I agree the final half of the season was pretty lame and like they were all just trying hard I didn't care for the Pam twin episode either.

I remember someone mentioning that Martin was high in the final season I'm not sure how true that is, but I figured he was probably done with the show and ready to move on. I hate that Martin and Gina couldn't set aside their differences to finish out one more season I also bet Gina and Martin would have became parents.

Completely agree! I currently watching the last season on BET, after Tisha Campbell left the show fell apart. Every episode after she left was awful.

- The cuckoo clock episode (bad)
- Pam's evil twin cousin from the psych ward (embarassingly awful, worst episode of the series)
- the one with John Amos as Tommy's military dad (boring)
- backdoor pilot episode with Jenna Von Oy and Tyrese (waste of time)
- the court episode with Mark Curry (boring)
- the episode with David Allen Grier where Martin and Pam are married (repetitive, they already did a episode last season where Pam had to married that Latino guy)
- Pam's birthday where they guys have a stakeout (bad)
- Martin and Cole on Jury Duty (bad)
- the episode where Gina's mom visit and Martin tries to get into the club (boring)
- the episode Erik Estrada and Method Man is the burglar (meh)
- The two part finale (meh, Martin and Tisha not sharing scenes together was just not the same)

The only Season 5 episodes I liked were Back in Trouble Again, Boo's in the House, Banging Hard in the School Yard, Come on Over to My Place.

Also, Martin stop doing the dress up characters like dragonfly jones, mama payne, jerome, Sheneneh only showed up in two episodes, bruh man dissapeared. Also, Cole's girlfriend Shanice was awful. She wasn't funny and the actress playing her couldn't act her way outta a paper bag.

Overall, Season 5 was pretty bad and my least favorite season.

By Season Five, Martin has devolved into a traditionally subpar sitcom — far more predictable, and free of the sketch-like surprises (e.g., wacky side characters, also played by star Martin Lawrence) and unexpected comic centerpieces that once made this series so special. Now, it’s like any other subpar sitcom… with stories that could happen on any other subpar sitcom, as a result of this show’s chronically mediocre understanding of character. That is, none of its leads are well-defined enough to genuinely push/inspire plot, and this in turn makes most ideas feel false and/or clichéd. Accordingly, as Martin has become more like a subpar sitcom, shedding the elements of its formerly delicious rebellion, the show has only emphasized its own shortcomings; in Five, both its character work and comedy are strained.
