Anyone else see the Director's Cut first?

The first time I watched this must have been in 2003 or 2004 and the only way version they had at Blockbuster was the Special Edition DVD. So that was my first experience with this movie, and I really don't mind any of the added scenes. However, friends of mine that saw the theatrical cut first can't stand the extended footage. What do y'all think?

The extra scenes are interesting, especially if you're a big fan of the movie and want to see more of the characters, but they slow down an already over long film (T2 is 25 mins longer than the original).

Same with the Aliens special edition, which has now become the defacto version for TV/streaming. It's way too damn long. Pacing is everything in action films, less is more.
