How is the T-1000 sent to kill John?

In the first film, Kyle explains to Sarah that the Terminator couldn't have been sent to kill John himself so he went for his mother instead. This is because he had to be erased from existence altogether in order to prevent the resistance. But the Terminator ultimately failed and John's existence wasn't erased. So isn't all of this pointless?

reply

technically yes, which is why I do not see this one in the lore.

reply

i am also not convinced the human resistance is beating the machines.. if T-1000s are running around willy-nilly.
pretty sure we are RIP without the need for time travel.

I'll have to go back and look, but I don't think that's exactly what was said in context.

The explanation given was that the humans had already won. Killing John at that point would be pointless. Therefore they had to wipe out his existence, meaning at some point in the past. Not that he had to never be born, but that he could never lead the humans.

T2 is pointless and non-canon (to me, anyway), but it's great fun.

reply

The last one wrecked the film.

The films didn't make any sense of that one.

reply

It became too complicated.

And it was stupid.

60-year-old Linda Hamilton with a launch rocket on her shoulders.

It should have ended with T3.

That would have been okay.

Another words...they FUCKED IT UP!
