Two good Samaritans come to a kid's rescue when he is screaming for help and seemingly getting attacked/kidnapped/molested by some big biker wearing sunglasses.
They arrive only to be pretty much told to fuck off by the kid. Then the kid has the scary biker rough up the rescuers and nearly has them killed.
John is such a dick here. This scene almost ruins his character for me.
In the time it took for the two guys to arrive, John had figured out that he had his own, personal Terminator to command.
His initial mouthing off to the good samaritans was just reflex; it's already his nature to be hostile and dismissive.
Ordering the Terminator to "grab this guy" was obviously over the line, but John was a kid playing with his new toy.
For what it's worth, a moment later, John appreciates the responsibility that comes with his new power. I believe the screenplay even states outright that having his own terminator is suddenly not as fun.
I think it could've been smoothed over if they would've turned the jock characters into some sort of antagonistic characters. Having them enter the scene as good Samaritans didn't seem to work. We could've had John learn his new power, get into some trouble with some unsavory guys, but then get a glimpse of his new responsibility during an altercation with guys who kind of deserved to get roughed up.
Child John was always a tool. Dude almost ruined the entire movie. Could be because the actor who plays him is annoying. Could be the lame dialog surrounding him.
Fortunately Arnold and groundbreaking CG saved it.
i have no seen film in while, but does john not put himself in way of jock douche bag about to be shot? i think that was nice. it show he realize he make terrible mistake in making terminator attack them, he instant regret.
otherwise, yes. john does look like douche in this scene. i always feel bad for jock douche bags in this scene, they come to help and get beat up.
but at least john's character grow from this scene. he become better person.
i like edward furlong in this film. it was last good james cameron film, he direct actors well in this film.
I can't agree with you about Bill Paxton's character. A guy who lies to women about what he does for a living to get romantically involved with them is not a good man. Not to mention impersonating a government spy is also a crime worthy of a few years in prison.
More like "He doesn't immediately realize anything, calls them a douche bag while they're getting their hands shattered, but then decides to not catch an accessory to murder charge once the guns start flying out."
