I remember pretty well when I was a kid everyone loved the TMNT 1987 series.
Then the first TMNT movie came in 1990 and it was so goddamn boring. It was dark, humorless and rather uninteresting. Hell like 70% of the movie was all of them having to deal with Raphael's lame and ludicrous psycologic problems. What a giant chore. And Raphael is by far the least interesting Turtle for me.
And then comes TMNT 2 and everyone loved the movie! This is so fun, the characters are fun, the setting is excellent and it has an awesome pace as well.
All the atmosphere from TMNT 2 looked similar to the awesome 1987 cartoons.
I can't even believe some people might prefer the awfully boring first movie. The only good part from the first movie was the last battle which was actually violent.
This was such neutered BS compared to the first. Yeah, okay let's have them use sausages and yoyos instead of their weapons. Yeah, okay Shredder will get blasted into oblivion... because of a loud keytar. Yes of course, the great ninja move splinter told them of the mystical music amplifier š¤¦āāļøYeah okay, the epic battle between Super Shredder and the Turtles will amount to...Shredder burying himself in a pier? Yeah okay, glad we got to see Super Shredder for a good 8 seconds.
No, we didn't have to deal with Raphs struggle. Nah instead, let's have Donatellos brooding feeling about needing to feel special. Instead of your badass ally Casey Jones (you know, like the cartoon) we get a whiny douchebag pizza delivery dork.
Look, I think they both have merit, but I pretty much agree. I don't know if I can be objective about this film because, childhood memories, but I'll always enjoy TMNT II over the first one. It's camp and goofy, sure, but it's way more fun and it understands that it's for kids and isn't taking a story about talking turtles that can do martial arts seriously, because it shouldn't.
Respectfully, I disagree, I think the first one was for adults but masqueraded as a kids film, the way Toy Story is really for adults. You can put toys in a movie but still have the movie not be for children, and that's how I've always viewed the first TMNT movie.
Hey everyone, at least he didnt say TMNT 3 was the best one.
I really enjoyed the 2nd movie but its definitely not better than the first. I use to watch both as a kid alot. The 3rd one i didnt care for much at all. Only thing i liked about it was that Casey Jones seemed to be good friends with them all. Id liked to seen him in the 2nd and more of a role in the 3rd
