Did this film kill Patrick Bergen's career as a leading man?

Handsome. Good actor. But he terrorized America's sweet heart.

I would say no because, what was he in before this movie that anyone has heard of? He was hardly an A-lister.

Was he ever a "leading " man? I thought he is more of a character actor.

You could be right. He doesn't have that special X factor leading men have.

I was thinking he was on track to become a leading man and this movie ended that, hence he became a character actor.
