I wonder why Martin and Laura have no children despite being married for three and a half years? We see them having sex two times in the movie and it was obvious both of them didn't use any contraceptives. Then how come Laura didn't get pregnant despite numerous sexual encounters with her husband?
shareIf the author had written kids into the story, Laura would've had to figure out a way to bring the kids with her when she bolted. Not an easy task.
shareThank heavens they didn't, she was probably smart enough to stay on birth control pills, realizing what he was. There were scenes when she is looking at him, seeing him for what he is. She knows she married a monster and she even uses that word in the movie. A woman needs to trust a man before she will have his children. If she mistakes him for trustworthy, has his babies, and he turns out to be terrible, she is in for one of the worst kinds of heartbreak a woman can have. I think she was smart enough to protect herself from getting pregnant.
