Reboot it Disney

If you can make films based on rides why not on a movie that is a cult classic. Now it can be like the recent Bond and Batman films.

I'm all for a reboot, but I don't think it has to be gritty. Part of the charm of the original movie was that it had a 1940s serials feel to it that was just pure joy to watch. Movies like The Rocketeer and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow are awesome for that retro feeling.

I'd like a hybrid of the first five chapters of the comic, & "Cliff's New York Adventure". Though this might be best to do over two films, seeing the beautiful designs of both 1938 Hollywood & 1938 NYC would be an awesome movie going experience. I'd stray from making it overly dark & edgy just because Chris Nolan says that's how all super hero films should be. I, myself, miss the days of fun adventure films that didn't have to explain everything to you like you're an idiot (The Dark Knight). Movies of the early 90's were fun!

I think they need to use the same as Iron Man but they need to make the special effects not so overtly cgi

I don't really like the idea of a reboot. Dave Stevens stated that he was largely satisfied with the movie, and that he though Billy Campbell did an amazing job of portraying Cliff. I'd like to see something more along the lines on an animated sequel movie or series, much in the style of the 1990s "Batman: The Animated Series", and voiced by Billy Campbell, Jennifer Connelly, Alan Arkin, etc.

Perhaps a live-action sequel could work, but replacing actors often has bad results.

I agree with hbenthow. It'd be interesting to see an animated series, and the Batman-style would work very well. You get a taste of it in the film, the Nazi cartoon is done in almost the same style. I would like to see Lothar brought out more as he is in the comics. As for replacing the actors, right now I don't think we have anyone who could pull it off.

I would LOVE that hbenthow!!!

For as much as I'd enjoy a live action sequel, an animated sequel would be highly welcome in my eyes! Yeah, the style of the early Batman animated movies would be great, but even today they could replicate that style but with better graphics. As long as it looked good and not too goofy, this would be a terrific product to see!

I'd pay good money to see a well done animated Rocketeer sequel with the original cast voicing the roles!!!

With remakes being as old as celluloid itself(thus being pointless to rail against), I'd have no objections provided the project left Disney's hands and went to someone willing and capable of capturing the source material's verve, ribaldry and all. Gotta feeling lust for a franchise would prevail once again, unfortunately...

Sequels are as old as celluloid itself too.

I am a huge rocketeer fan...sometimes think i am the biggest fan out there, and I wouldnt want to see a reboot.

I think it is a perfect stand alone one shot picture.....it doesnt need to be remade....it only needs to be release on bluray.

As much as I love the original, I'd gladly welcome a reboot.

It's well known that Disney wanted Johnny Depp to play the lead in the original. Now that Depp is Disney's beeyotch, their wish can come true the second time around!

Depp's too old for the role. If there was a re-boot I wish it would go to another film company. The Disney movie is great as is. If there was a re-boot it have to be something closer to the comic, as I've said before. Cliff needs to be in his 20's as does Betty (Jenny). For Cliff I could see someone like that kid that was in "Speed Racer" as for Betty (or Jenny which ever way you want to go), somebody who could play a pin-up type but still be a strong actress. I'd say Megan Fox for eye candy, but I don't think she has the acting chops to pull it off. Call me weird but I'd kind of like to see Jon Voight as Peevy. What do you guys think?

The guy from Speed Racer is 5'8" or something and does not look like a classic Americana hero.

Why can't people just watch the original damn movie? Does everything have to be a remake?

good question.

I don't want a reboot, at least not one by the current Disney. Considering their love of over bombastic films (Pirates of the Caribbean), tween junk and other acts of idiocy (renaming John Carter of Mars to just John Carter) they would probably screw it up. Now that cartoon idea that was discussed sounds cool but unless the movie gets in the right hands I doubt it will equal the original film.
