Bill Paxton underrated
Has he ever made a turkey? I don't think so.
shareI thought he was pretty good in this movie too. I notice he has a calm presence and maybe people think he doesn't put enough emotion in his roles. But I liked him in this movie, I thought him and Cynda Williams had good chemistry.
shareHave you seen A Simple Plan? Again gripping.
shareI saw that once, I don't remember a whole lot about it. I remember the ending pretty good though. I remember Bill Paxton and Billy Bob were brothers.
shareA Simple plan is one of my top movie. I saw it about 8 time and yes Paxton is a great actor.

I think he's great. As memorable as he was in "Aliens," I probably liked him best in "Near Dark." Heck, he's great even in the weaker movies, like "Predator 2."
sharePaxton's always had that sort of bad actor quality about him, where none of his lines sound natural. And yet besides that, I like seeing him in movies.
shareyes! "Trespass"!!
shareHe´s not a director, so how could he "make a turkey"? But his acting... well, I guess he can play these straight arrow everyman types pretty well. Don´t seem to have much in the way of range or versatility though.

^^ Frailty and 'The greatest game ever played'. Gems in my opinion!
shareHis overlooked performance in this movie was one of his very best.
MILD SPOILER AHEAD...
Watch his reaction as he overhears the two cops making fun of him behind his back, how his energy and enthusiasm just drain away. But then puts on a game face for them when he enters the room. A heartbreaking few seconds of film.
That scene is an excellent example of how nuanced his acting skills really were. He completely sold me on the colorful, local yokel character of Dale (Hurricane) Dixon who's actually so much more beneath the surface of that image.
shareAu contraire to the straight arrow roles--until his later career, with the exception of a few movies like this, he often played the kooky character role--Weird Science, True Lies, Aliens.
shareYes. "Resistance"(2003) is pretty feeble and Paxton hams it up.
shareI agree, very underrated.
