Yeah. That worked well.

Does the word “futile” mean anything to you?

reply

Well it didn't hurt to try. And we did try hard. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

reply

Actually, it did hurt to try. It required manifestly wasted time and effort to try to forestall a preordained conclusion. Because this feckless site carries over moribund posts from
IMDb, we have to see futile and dead posts from ghosts, and I resent that.

reply

You mean the dead posts you bump constantly????

RIP IMDb

I saw this about the most amazing site ever. IMDB. There wasn’t anything like that message board until it blew up in 2017. This movie chat thing doesn’t compare. There were discussions with people internationally. People who actually watch movies. I saw a movie called a bout de soufflé one night on a little tv a while back and missed the first half. I was so intrigued, I went to IMDB to ask a question on the end and if the subtitles were accurate. I hooked up with a professor in Ireland who taught a class on this movie. We exchanged really interesting dialogue. I was obsessed with this movie. I went on to learn French. And went to France. Fell in love with Nice. And became part of film festivals. All because of IMDB. It changed the direction of my life. And if you noticed, most of the posts are people responding to people’ s observations 15 years ago. 6 years ago.

yeah, IMDb was an amazing interface for connecting people Worldwide. you were pretty much guaranteed to get a question answered in a day with no snarky response. I learned a lot about movies and other peoples view point and culture. and was turned on to other movies I had never heard of. I dont think there will be anything like it again. If they turned the chat function back on you know people would return in droves. it would be amazing!

Thank you for reminding me of that. I had someone “over there” who downloaded in my Dropbox first three seasons of Forbrydelsen (the Killing - first one - the Danish one). That was in 2009 and it is now 2022 and came out last year and is on Topic on Prime Video. Also someone who told me about Peaky Blinders before it was famous. The connection to other people across the globe was amazing. Some of the posters I found on this board now haven’t seen the movie, won’t see the movie, and feel they can comment on a movie they haven’t seen. Although, recently I have connected with some people who have given me names of websites and ways to get movies that we can’t get in US. I think these posters are from UK or Canada. Anyway, losing IMDB was a huge loss. And since we are under Mortal Thoughts - this was a very good movie in that we see the point of view from Demi Moore which we take, at first sight, as reliable - in a way like Verbal Kints story. Amazing turn of events.
