Best Williem Defoe performance???

For me yes.

I enjoyed his work in this, yes. Certain moments had great power, especially his non-speaking scenes. In part it was the camera work, and in part it was Defoe's strange ability to take something mystical from the air and make it solid.
A must for Defoe fans.
A good look at dealers who don't use, and the loneliness that can come from "just doing the job."

Great analysis!!!

Rarely does a movie confront such mundane, real-life situations as the realization that you're 40 years old, are going to lose the only job you've ever had, and, as he says "there's no pension plan " for his job. He mentions it several times, so its more than just a throwaway concern.

I felt really drawn into the character and the plot..

One of my favorite films. Defoe has the singular ability to select really good scripts. He rarely is in a bad film.

Yes, we was great in this and just about everything else he’s been in.
The Florida Project is another fave!

The Lighthouse, Bobby Peru, Jesus?!!

reply

Gotta go with The Lighthouse. Not overkeen on the film, but Defoe was phenomenal. Should have got an Oscar nod IMO.
