Hold up very well . . . and the pacing was excellent

I did not watch it since it was in theatres, I was like 15 and I liked it.

Watched it yesterday and it was even better. Great movie, great writing, great structure.

Loved it. Even teared up a little, a couple of times.

Watching it now. It's really terrific. This had to have been a very challenging movie to make, to not have it turn into a goofball comedy movie while still poking fun at the main characters. Jack Palance's performance could have easily become a satirical caricature of the gruff cowboy. But it all works wonderfully. Is quite funny in parts and very charming. And it has a lot to say about life that still resonates today. The nature of the film, functioning mostly as a western, contributes a good deal to its timeless quality.
